Philip Bayliss has been an osteopath for 30 years, having graduated from the British School of Osteopathy in 1986. He established St Albans Osteopathy in Christchurch in 2004. He has a caring and holistic approach to osteopathy with a high degree of sensitivity, and his treatments are very gentle and painless. You will always receive your treatment from Philip, and never from a junior or locum osteopath. Philip can help you register a new ACC claim if you have been injured by an accident. Out-of-hours emergency appointments are often available.At your first consultation Philip will take your history and examine you, including any osteopathic, orthopaedic and neurological tests needed. Philip uses observation and his highly developed sense of touch to diagnose and treat the underlying causes of your condition. If needed, you will be referred for an x-ray or ultrasound scan. The images will be shown to you and any relevant findings discussed. You will receive a full osteopath treatment at your first consultation unless osteopathic treatment is not be appropriate, in which case you will be referred to a more suitable practitioner.

Philip uses a wide range of techniques, including gentle manipulation, cranial osteopathy (cranio-sacral therapy), activator technique, massage and vibrato-massage. The underlying causes of your condition are treated, not just "the painful spot". Every osteopath treatment is different and is designed specifically for the persons needs at that time. Philip may give advice on exercises, posture, diet, supplements and medicines to help you manage your condition, speed recovery and to avoid future problems.
